old java versions deleted, new version installed, old versions re-added ?
i needed to update my java. i deleted the old versions and installed version 6.0.22. then my firefox add-on window opened up and showed i had java 6.0.22 and 6.0.19. i went to play the game (pogo download) that i had been having trouble with, and the problem was still there. so i uninstalled and reinstalled the java and rebooted. the add-on window was back and had 6.0.22, 6.0.19, 6.0.17, and 6.0.15.
the only java that appears in the add /remove list is the newest one. should i uninstall all these old ones again? how come they came back ?

You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension, you do not need them to run Java applets.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
See also http://www.java.com/en/download/help/quickstarter.xml - What is Java Quick Starter (JQS)? What is the benefit of running JQS? - 6.0
Disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools -> Addons -> Extensions
Control Panel -> Java -> Advanced tab -> Miscellaneous -> Java Quick Starter (disable)
