Firefox turns black when scrolling / crashes
When scrolling, Firefox will at times start to hang up and the entire window turns black. If you wait for a bit it may come back to normal looking, but then when you scroll again it turns black again... I have also noticed that eventually, when this starts, it will crash completely. Rebooting or restarting Firefox usually fixes it for a while, but it always eventually does it again. Not sure how to post crash reports here, have 7 in the last 2 weeks. Thanks

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
Some users have reported problems with Avast. If the problem continues, try to disable it for a time.
Wouldn't either one of those things cause it to act up at all times? This only happens when I've had the browser open for a while, sometimes a few days, with maybe 5-10 tabs. I rarely reboot the computer and just close it and let it "sleep" at night.
Have you tried starting Firefox in safe mode?
Some recommend shutting down the computer once in a while to let the system do clean up and other things it can't do while running.

Firefox uses too much memory (RAM) - How to fix
This article describes how to make Firefox use less memory to make it run faster and prevent crashes.
I assumed it may be a memory issue, although it seems ridiculous that Firefox has issues running on a machine that has 4 GB of memory.
