On several occasions within the last 6-9 months, I have been notified of the latest version of Firefox, clicked to apply the update, restarted Firefox and stayed at my previous version - see subject. So, I followed the link in "About, Firefox", which informed me updates are available, and I am greeted with "Congratulations, you're Firefox version is up-to--date!". Not an earth shattering problem but somewhat annoying. Why does this happen? Thanks.

It is true that Firefox 37.0 has been released, but updates have been disabled to allow investigating and fixing some reported crashes on Windows (bug 1149761 and bug 1149864). There will be a Firefox 37.0.1 version released to address these crashes.

Thank you for your suggestions. I tried the Refresh Firefox option, which created an "Old Firefox Data" folder on my desktop, as advertised. Now "About Firefox" tells me I am at V 36.0.4 which is the most up-to-date version.

This still leaves the question: "Why did it ask me to update to V 37.x.x?

I emphasize again, this is not an earth shattering problem and may not be worth anymore time trying to track it down.

Thanks again for your response.
