My computer was saving documents with Firefox; also when I opened files in my document library, I could do it with Firefox. Now my documents are saved with windows and the icon to open files is set to windows explorer. How do I set it back to windows? My homepage is set to Firefox.

That suggests files on your computer are opened by Windows Explorer which is probably normal and what you appear to want. If the files ar documents then it depends on the document type and how you have set up Windows. Possibly plain text files would open with Windows Notepad, and Word Processor type files with Windows Wordpad

Or are you saying your files show with Windows Explorer icons and still open with Firefox. That would be odd. Maybe they are shortcuts to html etc content that Internet Explorer can open but you are choosing to use Firefox instead.

It is normal to use the OS to open file, it should be able to open correctly, often with the aid of some other program or app just about any file on your computer.

Firefox is more limited as to what it is able to open. Having said that my mother tends to does not use a computer much and is content to stick to files linked from a set of bespoke Firefox homepages.
