I'm still on Windows XP and currently using Thunderbird v38.3. I was reminded today of v45 update and after a file integrity problem with in-channel update, I tried to download British v45.0 from the Mozilla download site. Clicking on the link invited me to save the file as v38.5! A second attempt at an in-channel update was successful.

I thought Mozilla support should be advised as I had a similar problem recently with an attempted upgrade to Firefox v45.0. The link was for v43.01 and having just checked, so it remains!

As a result I still can't download the latest standalone British version of either Firefox or Thunderbird for installation on a new system.

Not a glitch but due to you using Windows XP. The Firefox Releases on Windows since version 43.0.2 the setups are signed due to a Microsoft requirement. Thunderbird. Is doing same thing with recent Releases also. It was decided to serve a version all WinXP users can install and then update to current from.

WinXP SP2 users cannot install the newer setups however SP3 users can. The default browser useragents on WinXP does not show if the user has SP2 or SP3 installed.

If you do have WinXP SP3 you can pick your language here (en-GB): https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/45.0/win32/ https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/45.0.2/win32/

James,

Your timely and helpful reply was greatly appreciated and solves my problem. 'Chapeau' to you as cyclists say.

My system is XP SP3 with all M$ XP embedded updates so I went to the sites suggested for both downloads.
