Using windows 10; a friend transfered single email addresses from one pc to another but not group addresses. Mozilla says windows 10 does not support their "easy transfer wizard" to do this but then goes on to tell you how to do it. Am I missing something?

Anyway; how can I transfer single addresses and group addresses in thunderbird to a new windows 10 pc using thunderbird?

Groups, by which I assume you mean Mailing Lists, are specific to Thunderbird and not recognised as things that file transfer programs are designed to support.

Is there a reason why you wouldn't just transfer the whole profile? Account Settings, messages, address books, extensions, themes, customizations all included in one transaction?

I think the MoreFunctionsForAddressBook addon will help with exporting and importing address books and possibly Mailing Lists, but you need to understand that a List in Thunderbird has no self-contained existence; it is just a collection of Contacts taken from an address book, so a List is always a subordinate part of its host address book. The bottom line is that if you transfer an address book, its Mailing Lists come with it, free. I think the addon has a tool for exporting and importing Lists, but you may end up with the bare minimum of name and email address; no street address, phone numbers etc.

Individual Contacts could also be transferred by making them into vCards and then importing those into the new Thunderbird. I think you'll need that same addon to do this.

I don't see any rôle for an Easy Transfer Wizard here. All you need is to be able to do is view hidden files and then copy your files to and from a USB thumbdrive.
