When using the Global Search (Ctrl=K) for Thunderbird 38.5.1 the search only brings back a blank screen. There are three email accounts using Imap set up in a Unified view. We have tried to rebuild the database but that didn't seem to resolve the issue. The folder search (Ctrl+shift+K) works but it would be tedious to go through hundreds of folders. Any ideas on how we can resolve this issue? Thanks for all the help!

You have rebuilt the database. Are you sure it has completed rebuilding? sounds like you have a very large store. It may take days to completely rebuild

We allowed a few days to go by before even trying to do another Global Search after starting to rebuild the database. How would we stop it from rebuilding once it began? Would an error pop up, if an error occurred?

check the activity manager on the Tools menu (alt+T) It should show ongoing indexing processes.

You would not stop the rebuild, short of turning off the global search and index option. But how slow it builds is a very localized thing. If you have an anti virus program that is locking the index every time it updates for a 10 minute scan the process could be exceedingly slow. add two email, wait 10 minutes type slow.
