I have set up a new Firefox profile. How do I create shortcuts that will load particular profiles without having to go through the profile manager?

You have to add the parameter -p "ProfileName".

The only thing that was not clear from your solution was whether the parameter should be added to the "Target" field or the "Start In" field. By trial and error I found the right one.
