Why are my self-created link html pages blacked out after loading in my browser? They worked previously and they work in Internet Explorer.

I edited and saved my self-created link page, which I use as my homepage. When I clicked the home page icon, the page loaded on my browser but then went black. The links are there because if I move the cursor on the blacked out page the cursor signals that it is on a link. When I click, the linked page loads.

The home page icon previously loaded this link page. Internet Explorer has no problem either. I created a test page outside of my SiteAid web page creator and still get a blacked out page.

goto "about:support" then click "refresh firefox"

If that doesn't solve it, then check your HTML code, just cause it works in another browser doesn't mean your code is correct against the defined standard, an I've noticed Firefox is more strict when it comes to errors in peoples code.... Plus it's positive getting your code clean.

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version 27.0.0.130

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Thank you.

It worked, but I lost all my extensions. I couldn't reinstall BetterPrivacy (Super-cookie Safeguard). When I searched for a new flash cookie addon I was informed FireFox didn't support those addons as of a certain date. I recall hearing that FireFox had surrendered to the powers that be. Therefore I will find another browser, since this one is now at default settings anyway.

Thanks again.

Did you ever made changes to the default color settings?

  • Options/Preferences -> Content: Fonts & Colors -> Colors

See also "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above" Try "Never" if the default "Only with High Contrast themes" isn't working.
