I imported bookmarks from Safari. How can I identify duplicates and merge the Firefox and imported Safari bookmarks?
I had been using Firefox as my primary browser on a PC, syncing with the Firefox iOs app on my iPhone and iPad. I recently switched to a Macbook running Sierra. When I did, my Firefox bookmarks synced to the Safari app. I was using Safari as the primary browser for a little while because I was having trouble with Firefox performing well on the Mac. After the recent update, Firefox seems to be working much better, so I want to use it primarily again.
I had spent a lot of time cleaning up the Safari bookmarks, reorganizing them and deleting unused bookmarks. I have imported the Safari bookmarks to Firefox, but now I have 2 sets of bookmarks, with many of them being duplicated. How can I merge them together and remove duplicates? Is there a way to make the imported more current Safari bookmarks the default bookmark list, replacing the old Firefox list?

Hi AZgirl, you can use the Library windows ("Bookmarks Organizer") to move your bookmarks around. As the first step, you might want to create a new folder on the Bookmarks Menu and on the Bookmarks Toolbar called Old Firefox Bookmarks and drag your Firefox bookmarks into there, then move the Safari bookmarks to your preferred locations.
Unfortunately, Firefox doesn't have a de-duplication feature, but there are some add-ons to help in the process. I'm only aware of this one:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmarks-organizer/
Be careful to use the de-dup feature, and not the one that checks whether every link is still valid by visiting all the sites...
