Firefox stopped being my default browser after today's update to 61.0.2 (64-bit) on my Win 10 system.

Mozilla "Firefox" is not listed under default browsers to switch to.

There seems to be a cruel "workaround" if I knew every file extension to manually associate but this is not the way to go. I certainly don't want to do the entire list manually.

For clarity I attached the listing (or non-listing of Firefox) for Default Web Browsers after today's update.

I have reinstalled Firefox but it is still not my default browser and cannot be selected. Clicking "Make Default" under Firefox options takes me to the same page in the screenshot.

OK, I did much of what you suggested and it's working.

I used IObit's "Powerful Uninstaller", and rebooted. I installed from the "Full Version Installer" you (Pkshadow) supplied the link for.

I was apprehensive about the "Windows Disk Cleanup" so I did not run that. I may try that after my next full backup but it was not needed in this case, for this fix.

Thank you Pkshadow.

I am curious what the 'real' problem was. What got blown away by this recent update? Anyone have an idea?

Hi, please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
