I recently can see I some how made a mistake in locating a folder where it doesn't belong. Evidently I see I have no "new folder" listed where I used to have one listed in my bookmarks listings. That new folder bookmark is now located in another folder I have listed within my bookmarks. I don't know how that happened but it did. My problem is how do I now relocate that folder (which has many listings within it) that I especially don't want to lose, out of the current folder that it is being shown in and relocate it back to my bookmarks listings where it was originally shown as a separate folder? I can't seem to figure how to get it out of the current folder it is in and back to showing it on my bookmark listings where it was originally. Can someone help? Thank you.

HI, Drag and Drop. Click the folder you want to move and Drag it to where yo want it then leg of the mouse.

Best to go to Customize and drag out the Star with a Pan Under It.

Or can open the Menu Bar in Customize bottom left and get at bookmarks that way or use the Side Bar.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

You can also use Cut/Paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) or the bookmarks sidebar like posted above.

Make sure that you do not get confused by the Recently Bookmarked folder. This folder is a so called smart folder that shows a list of bookmarks (result of a places.sqlite query) that are located in their own folder.

Thank you cor-el and PKshadow for your reply. I'm not having any success as of yet. First, I can't drag the folder that say's new folder to where I want, the bookmark menu, which is where it was originally. When I try and drag the folder to bookmark menu, I get a circle cross not allowing me to drag. Maybe best to explain again what happened. I used to have a bookmark in my bookmark menu labeled "new folder". For some reason that bookmark is now in a folder with a different name. But, when I access that different folder, all the data within the folder "new folder" is present. I didn't lose any of the data I had, which contained about 200 songs in it. I just can't figure out how move that folder, which is labeled "new folder" which is now in the incorrect place within a different folder labeled differently than "new folder". I other words, a folder named "new folder" which was in my bookmark menu is not where it belongs anymore. It is in a all together different folder, which I can access from my bookmark menu, and I can see and access that folder----"new folder" within that different folder and all the data is still there, all those songs. Just don't know how to move it back to my bookmark menu, where it was originally. Hope all that isn't confusing, but this seems to be very peculiar situation. Hopefully you can help. I certainly don't want to lose all those songs. Thank you.

Can you create a New Folder on the Bookmark Toolbar then drag the songs into it ? If you can you may have to do that to all 200

Or wait till someone comes along that knows which files can be deleted in your profile that will be recreated.

PKshadow, thank you for your reply. Dragging all my songs into a new folder individually sounds like a doubting task. I was hoping there would be an alternative to that process? Not sure what you meant by your comment"Or wait till someone comes along that knows which files can be deleted in your profile that will be recreated". Maybe I might get lucky and someone come up with a fix to restore my new folder from where it is, to where it was? Thank you, PKshadow.

Hi, yes that was the idea. There are several files in the Profile that can be deleted which recreate themselves without loosing data and can fix issues. Unfortunately I need to pay more attention to the file names and copy them down for future use , like now.

There is also these, but need to go through them to see if can help : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=bookmark%20managers

Did you try to do this in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) because you can't do this in the Library menu?

  • Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks

Hi PKshadow and cor-el. Thank you both for your replies, it is appreciated. Very peculiar, but just as quickly as the problem appeared, and for no reason I might add, now all my "new folder" bookmarks have reappeared where they belong, in the bookmark menu category. Don't know how that happened, but the problem has solved it self? But, I now notice that when I try and add a new bookmark to the "new folder" folder in my bookmark menu, which is now there, it won't appear there for some reason? I can't apply a new bookmark to the folder labeled "new folder". I used to be able to do so, with no problem. Now I can't. Any suggestions? By the way, can you explain what I was suppose to do once I access the bookmark library, cor-el? "Did you try to do this in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) because you can't do this in the Library menu?" Not sure what I am suppose to do? It may be a moot point now, just curious cor-el. Any help as to why I can't add a bookmark to "new folder" bookmark, please explain. Thank you both, it is appreciated.

Please provide a screenshot of the "bookmarks" menu or panel where you are attempting to edit / change / or add to bookmarks or to folders.

There's 4 places where bookmarks can be viewed, some of which allow editing / adding. Library Bookmarks Sidebar Menu Bar - Bookmarks drop-down Navigation Toolbar Bookmarks / History button

See this support article. How do I create a screenshot of my problem? It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Are you using Sync to sync bookmarks?

more options

cor-el, thank you for your reply. No, I am not using Sync. the-edmeister, thank you too, for your reply. I am using the menu bar drop down menu to view and access a given bookmark. As I mentioned, strange how this happened in the first place, and how also strange the issue seemed to solve it self? I can now view and access the new folder bookmark that had my songs in it, and play those songs. Good. Just sort of confused about why I can't any longer add a song---bookmark, to the "new folder" folder which I was using to store those songs in that folder any longer. Thank you both for your help.
