Lately, I have noticed a small, red area that appears in the bottom messaging area of TBird with the number "95%". Right clicking shows that my Quota is 95% full.

I use TBird for my Comcast and Google email accounts (8 total) and have never had this issue. Except for one of the Comcast accounts, all are IMAP.

Most of today has been spent deleting / organizing emails (using TBird). I also reviewed the TBird Profiles and deleted two extremely large imap profiles that were several years old and not being used.

I tried starting TBird in safe mode but that didn't change anything.

I have the following imap Synchronization & Storage options checked :

"Keep messages for this account on this computer"
"Synchronize all messages locally regardless of age"
  "Don't delete any message"
  "Always keep starred message"

Is it correct that, when I delete an email in TBird, it gets deleted on the server?

Can you help?

Thanks! Bill

Thunderbird doesn't have any quotas. It will happily store until your disk is full.

The message comes from one or more of your mail servers. If you can't make out which account or server it relates to, maybe the Error Console will provide more information. But right now I can't tell you where to find this. I'm using a tablet and it doesn't run a Thunderbird. Look around under Tools or Options in the menu.

Here's an article about enabling the logging functions, but it is rather geeky:

Yes, with IMAP if you delete a message it is removed from both client and server. If you want to keep a message and release space on the server, move the message to your Local Folders account in Thunderbird. This will remove the server copy and make a local copy stored in your profile.
