If you close the app and open it again, does it appear to clear?

Have you tried force stopping the app via settings and try clearing browsing history?

This. Force closing apps and clearing history doesn't work for me, I still have website suggestions in my address bar that won't get deleted (if i uncheck "search browsing history" from settings then they are hidden but not deleted). This is a huge privacy concern for me...
