Update deleted years of Bookmarks, Passwords and Add-ons, and maybe more
Two Updates ago, FF deleted years of Bookmarks, Passwords and Add-ons, and maybe more that I'm not aware of. Only a small handful of Bookmarks were left. Is there any way to get them back? And, no, FF did not create a file on my desktop with the old FF settings, or whatever it was called.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar.
How many profiles are listed?
How many should be there?
Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.
As I mentioned (sort of), I do not have an Old Firefox file on my desktop. HOWEVER, in thinking about your responses, I may have had one at one time. If I did, I deleted it because I did not know what it was, as I was never informed of FF putting a file on my desktop. This is only theoretical, but it is the best I can come up with.
Another however—I do have one FF window that is open that has my old Bookmarks Menu, and, I presume, all the rest of my missing stuff. The problem being, this window's profile is not in the about:profiles page. The about:profiles page shows the current one being used and one other. However, the one other has the after-update Bookmarks Menu and not the before-update Bookmarks Menu. So, unless there is a way to get the Bookmarks from the old FF window to one of the new FF windows, short of opening every single Bookmark for the past several years and adding it to the new about:profiles, I guess I'm screwed.
May I suggest that if you're going to write a file on a person's desktop, that you might inform them through, say, an email, that this file has been added to one's desktop. Thank you both for your quick response. I'm screwed. LOL
The two images are merely the two different Bookmarks Menus I have open. The Old Bookmarks Menu is totally the way it was before the update. I don't know how it was saved open after the update. I have added to the New Bookmarks Menu from the way it originally was with maybe three menu options, with hardly anything in them. Thank you again.
Note: Please don't delete anything. It's too easy to delete the wrong thing.
You can find some useful info on the Troubleshooting Information page. Can you get both of those very different windows at will? In each window, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
The interesting parts are:
(A) What profile folder is it and where is it located?
There's a Profile Folder row in the first table and a button that lets you access its contents. Please don't move anything just yet until we get a better understanding of what is going on.
(B) Are you running multiple installations of Firefox?
There's an Application Binary row that gives the path to the Firefox program. Same same or is one in an unexpected location?
Look in your Recycle Bin to see if you can recover the Firefox Old folder.
