I am using Firefox with Ubuntu 16.04. I run Ubuntu from Virtualbox in Mac host. Firefox is freezing frequently, at least once every day. System is completely frozen. The mouse pointer is moving, but no responses from mouse click. Cannot point out to any specific websites. Sometimes it just freezes while using my university email and Lms together. Really inconvenient. I really do not want to switch from firefox to chrome. So this is my last try before the switch. I tried solutions that I found online. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. Tried installing through Ubuntu Snap and then reinstall through command line. Tried refreshing firefox. But all ended up in the same result Any help would be appreciated

I have done it now. Let me see how it works. Thank you very much for the fast response Quick question. If this does work, do I open firefox in safe mode every time moving forward? Can I set it up to start in safe mode each time automatically?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-slow-how-make-it-faster https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-many-cpu-resources-how-fix https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-hangs-or-not-responding https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-takes-long-time-start-up https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quick-fixes-if-your-firefox-slows-down

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.
