Hi, last night i was asked if I wanted to upgrade Thunderbird from 68.11 version and I declined. Today after I restarted laptop instead of seeing all my mail I've got a screen asking me to login with my e-mail account or create a new one. When I entered my current e-mail and password it started pulling some mail from 3 years ago, but lost ALL my folders and ALL my old mail. How do I get it back? I also didn't see my second e-mail account there. I have v 68.11 on my second windows 10 tablet. Should I restore it from there? Why my mail client was upgraded to 68.12 and what happened to all folders and old e-mails? I'm using Thunderbird probably for 25 years and it's very discouraging that these upgrades create so many issues. Please HELP!!! Thanks, Yuri

I was able to restore my folders by changing profiles, but in addition to have duplicates e-mail I lost my address book. Does anybody test these upgrades? how can I go back 68.11?

Was finally able to get back my address book by rename impab.mab to abook.mab. Do everybody have to go thru this headache?

I checked "about" and it says I'm still on version 68.11, but my screens look very different - all options are on the left side of the screen and as I mentioned earlier I couldn't see my folders and address books .... so what happenned?

re :I was able to restore my folders by changing profiles, I presume you did this: In Thunderbird

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • Bottom of 'Application Basics' click on 'about:profiles'
  • Then locate the profile and click on 'Set as Default'
  • Exit Thunderbird and restart to see original profile.

I had to find the original profile and later renamed .mab files to get back my address book. The question is why I was not able to start thunderbird the usual way, instead I had a screen that asked me to enter userid/password for existing account? When I entered my first e-mail account it retrieved e-mails from 3 years ago and lost my folders and address books. After I pointed to the correct profile I had 500+ duplicate e-mails. Any idea why I've got this issue to start with? Now I'm afraid to upgrade Thunderbird to any new release, last time when I upgraded to 78.0 I also lost folders and address books, so I had to uninstall everything, delete profiles, install 68.11 and copy all my data from my other tablet. Did they fix these issues in 78 release?
