So, I have three issues that I'd like to resolve in relation to the Address Book in TB78.10.

For level setting, I have three address books: - > All Address Books

  • Personal Address Book
  • Gmail Address Book (imported)
  • Collected Addresses

Addressing Settings: On: Local Address Books Off: Directory Server On: Automatically add outgoing address to my: Gmail Address Book Default Startup Directory in the address book window: Gmail Address Book

  1. 1. When I highlight (star) an address from an email I've received, it adds that address to the "Personal Address Book". I want it to be added to the Gmail Address Book.

How do I establish that setting?

  1. 2. When I type an address in the TO: field when composing a new email and I type in an address in the Gmail Address Book, it doesn't find all of the contacts. The ones that were imported originally get found. The ones I have added since I did the import do not.

How do I fix that ?

  1. 3. Collected Addresses

The setting was ticked ("Automatically add outgoing email addresses to my: Collected Addresses"). It seemed to be working. I've since changed that to point to the Gmail Address Book. I don't believe they are being added there (the last two didn't add).

Based on the settings above, do you see any reason why this is happening (or isn't I guess) ?

Any chance of getting some help on this? I am still stuck on these issues 6 weeks later and have investigated more, but have come up empty.

I know there are add-ons I cannot use as they are not compatible with my version of Thunderbird (now at 78.11).

Does anyone out there have any insight into what I can do to solve the three items above?

For 1., you can't change the default from Personal Address Book, but if you click the star twice, the target address book can be selected. For 2. and 3., it appears the Gmail book is corrupted, as it doesn't retain edits. Try this: export the book to LDIF format, then delete the book, then import the LDIF file and see if the new address book retains changes.
