Is Firefox history really that ehm ... 'unwise'?
Hey.
So.. I'm really trying to stick with Firefox (it's 115.14.0 ESR 64bit on Win 10, in case that matters. Not sure about versions on my Debian 12 and Android 13, but it's all up to date as possible). Even in these times when it has lost most of its popularity. But you're not making it easy for me...
Today I discovered, when I was trying to find links I visited exactly a year ago, that Firefox no longer remembers the history even from that time. *facepalm* This is completely unacceptable to me. I really don't understand how anyone could sit down and say to himself "This is a good idea!"...
Now... I remember when I was using Opera some years ago that it was capable to keep at least 5 years of history for sure (at least that's the latest I ever went). Based on this, I assume that there is a solution. I'm sure that Firefox is not stupid than at least ten years old Opera... Right?! I read about 'places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages', 'places.history.expiration.max_pages' and 'places.history.expiration.transient_optimal_database_size' in about:config. But I also read that it's not very safe way to fix the history.
So, is there any smarter solution? Come on, history is most basic feature. Please don't force me to switch because of it *sigh*
Kindly thank you all in advance
