No, you do not need either of those. Any reasonable antivirus should be fine. I was using Antivir when I was using Windows, and it caused no problems with Firefox. What do you mean your screen tells you? Do you mean that your paid subscription to McAfee or Norton has expired?
You do need an anti-virus application, but those programs are probably the last two that knowledge Firefox users would recommend. There are many good free (for personal use) AV programs available.
