Your update done last night ruined firefox for me. I am uninstalling it. It does not function in an easy, friendly way. And I am not interested in having to close new windows every time I click on something.. What were you thinking?
Your update of feb. 01, 2012 has ruined the firefox I knew. It opens new windows and I can't stop it. It no longer opens tabs I had open when I closed it, causing me a lot of work.
It ignores the settings I have in the options, and quite frankly, if it ignores the basic settings, I have to wonder how safe it really is now..
You should roll back that update and rethink what you have done.. I hate this new version, and I will be uninstalling it.
What were you thinking?

Update here--I spent some time restarting FF in safe mode and turning my extensions back on one at a time. I figured out that the add-on "Facebook Disconnect" was causing the problems mentioned above. Once I disabled this extension, my browser returned to normal. I have no idea if other extensions are causing this problem, but this troubleshooting method worked for me.
PS--I went back to Facebook Disconnect & manually updated it, and now it's working OK.

Hi,
I'm sorry you are having these problems with Firefox 10. Can I ask what version you were running before this? Maybe this will help me to find out what the problem is with the blank page you are seeing.
Thanks, Michelle
I was using 9.01.
I'm not just concerned about the blank page. The browser opens new windows every time I click on a link. It ignores my settings to open tabs that were open when I closed the application. It does not display the url in the address bar. The go back buttons do not work. I don't have time to play with something that was working and now doesn't. If a software doesn't continue to work when it is updated, then it's time to find something else.
If it were one thing, maybe it would be different, but the friendly functionality is gone. I have projects I need to finish, which by the way were interrupted by this update.. I spent too much time trying to get firefox to work properly last night (early this morning). I shouldn't have had to do that.. And the outcome was that my efforts changed nothing...
I use Windows 7.
I have uninstalled the updated firefox and re-installed 9.01, but that of course was a pain too because in order to fix the problem, I had to delete the settings and all my passwords were lost, so they have to manually be put back in. The only option that was exportable was my bookmarks because that's all firefox allows to be backed up.. Why don't these people try making all settings or at least passwords able to be backed up, instead of messing with the functionality so drastically?
I'm not interested in troubleshooting the browser.. It needs to be updated seamlessly with little to no interference to the user. IE is better than than that, and that isn't good at all.. I will NEVER allow firefox to update automatically again, unless of course firefox codes that out as well.
I am switching over to Chrome for primary use and only using firefox for what the plugins or addons can do for me from now on..
I'm seconding the original poster's feelings. I'm having the exact same problems after an update from yesterday (Feb 1st). When I launched Firefox this morning (the 2nd), it looked totally different and had a blank tab instead of my home page (even though the option to start on my home page was selected). Any time I click on a link it opens a new window. Some of my extensions are missing, even though they allegedly are supposed to be compatible with this upgrade. My settings don't work properly and the ones that do work don't save, so that each time I reopen FF it reverts to the original settings. Even when I select the option to move tabs to the top of the screen, it won't work!
This is awful. I've been very happy with Firefox for years now but I'm moving to Chrome, and if this can't be fixed I won't be coming back. Please fix this, and get Firefox back to the browser I know and love!
For reference, I'm running Windows 7 and no, I haven't made any other changes that would account for this browser craziness.
