So im having a issue here. I love the 3.6.28 Firefox version as its simple and fastest for my Slow PC. I though installed the new 12.0 version as FF decided not to support 3.6 anymore and was hugely disappointed with how slow it is. Anyway my issue: Ive disabled plugin container in 3.6 due to eating up my RAM. Settings: http://kb.mozillazine.org/images/Fx366-OOPP.PNG

Installed FF 12.0 and i now suddenly i see 2x plugin container running at the same time. When i disable it again the same way i did in v 3.6 I cant play my favourite game anymore as its all grey when the game launches. Its called Quakelive.com and is runned through the web. So i went back to v 3.6. Can i work around this somehow? I dont like having the plugin container eating my RAM. And the point it actually did work in the earlier version 3.6 it should work now? What i want is do disable plugin container and still be able to run flash, java etc just like the way i have in v 3.6. I hope someone has an idea. Thanks!

I was reading and see this might be a better option for you:
QLPrism: A community-driven launcher for Quake Live

Do you also have this setting in Firefox?
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled -> false

That is the main setting that disables plugin container for all plugins.

Since you said it turns all grey even with that setting, maybe you do not have the Quake Live plugin installed for Firefox 12 but you do for Firefox 3.6.

You can also try posting your question at Quake Live forums for more help:
http://www.quakelive.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?12-Technical-Support

They should know how to get that plugin for you.

Thanks for reply.

I have been testing QLprism and didnt like it.

dom.ipc.plugins.enabled -> false Yes i have this setting, i attached a picture of my settings which works perfectly in v 3.6.

Ive tried to Enable and Disable Java Flash and plugin container but still not getting it the same as 3.6. Still all grey.

I've posted on QL forum and hope for some response there but i doubt it though :/
Link to thread: If Firefox Plugin Container is off, Quake not starting

Hmm, got me thinking about the QL plugin, I'm not sure but could it really remove the plugin when i installed version 12? (I did just upgrade and it saved all my settings)

No problem.

Yeah, I saw that screenshot but since you copied it from the kb.mozillazine.org and it wasn't a screenshot from your system I thought you missed one of the settings that weren't bolded. But I believe you did it. :)

Could you take a screenshot of Quake Live not loading on Firefox 12? I would really like to see this grey image you see when the game launches.

Read these articles to see how to take a screenshot:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/screenshot.mspx

Make sure to save the image with PNG file type because it has the highest quality, instead of JPG that has poor quality.

Then attach the image to your next post or use imageshack.us to upload it and paste the link here. Thanks.

I forgot to ask you. What is your Java version? It is possible a old version of Java on your system is being blocked by Firefox because of some security risk.

So if you could could go to: Tools > Add-ons > Plugins

And tell me what version of Java you have there. If you have more than one, tell me all of them. Thanks

Don't update your Java before letting me know what version you have first. That way I know for sure what Java version was causing your problem.

To update Java:
http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Edit:
It looks like you have Java 6 update 32, which isn't old. But they also released Java SE 7 Update 4 at the same time. Supposedly Java 7 has more features/improvements. I wonder if the Quake Live people updated their Java to Java 7. Hopefully installing Java 7 works and doesn't cause a new problem.

Just use QLPrism and save yourself the trouble. That's why it was created -- to make playing QL very easy. It is basically Firefox 3.6.28 anyway. Just disable the scripts you don't like, it really isn't a huge deal

I will try this one out later today. In v 3.6 it do block something about Security risk "Java classic plugin" But still all working fine.

Installing FF 12 i get this: (Not my own picture but same error) I attached the picture. Could this be the problem? Ill try install java 7 and update to FF 12 again later today.

About QLPRISM. I tested it out once but deleted it cause i got some kind of one second fps lag once a minute. Also heard it has alot of bugs.
