I have my system set to minimise windows by double-tapping/clicking them on the title bar. It works for most of windows (iTunes being exception). It's a system preference thingy, so it should work across all the board. After the recent update to 21.0, my Firefox is unable to minimise by double-tapping on the title bar anymore. Is there anyway to fix this issue, or will this be solved in the next update?

Hey there xD

Are your plug-ins up to date? Check Plugins

Have you tried restarting Firefox with add-ons disabled? It looks like an add-on conflict.

  • Firefox > Help > Restart with Add-ons disabled

I very much doubt it'll be fixed in the next update because it works well for everyone else.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried it but it still doesn't work.

Have restarted both firefox and my mac, and still doesn't work.

At this rate, I'm either going to re-install firefox, which I'm not very inclined to do, or I'm just going to have to stick with it for the meantime.

Thanks for suggestion though. Appreciated.

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it's still not working. Exited Firefox, deleted all the plist files for it, restarted, to no avail. Cheers.

Hey cor-el, do you think it's a preference setting set in "about:config" that could be causing this? I don't have a mac, so I can't check this.

leese03, try unchecking the option for "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize", then verify that no windows can be minimized by double-clicking, after that check the option again to turn it back on. Does that help?

No.. It didn't. I'd unchecked the option and indeed no windows could be minimised, including Firefox. Switched it back on, Still couldn't minimise Firefox.

I posted a similar post yesterday. I'm on a Mac as well. I'm also having the same problem since updating Firefox. I've tried deleting the plist, I've tried updating my plugins, I've double checked all my settings, I've restarted my computer, I've zapped my PRAM several times, I've repaired disc permissions....nothing works. The double-click to collapse windows is still working on my other programs that support the function so this is only isolated to the updated Firefox.

I did a bug search on Bugzilla, it seems this bug is being worked on by development right now. Hope this helps.

Fire,

Thanks for an update on the situation. It's nice to know it's not my Mac (which has been having its own issues.)

I do NOT want plugins to be current or updated, it causes too much trouble when ANYTHING just changes itself for its own reasons, which almost never (as they have to do with things I don't think should even be ALLOWED let alone encouraged: security, privacy, etc) does me anything but harm.

If I could get this software paid-for in a shrink wrapped box, unchangeable unless I bought a new copy, instead of for free, I surely would.

When you are not the paying customer, you are the unpaid victim or at est the uncompensated product...

Only way to fix this right now is to install a previous version. I found FF20 works, and it's not really that old (last modified apr 12th, 2013). Here's the link , click on your OS, then en-US, then DL and replace FF23 with FF20. Voila. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/20.0.1/

Note: If you later go to this link and hit parent directory, you can see all previous versions. bookmark it, since you never know when Mozilla might nerf the next "improvement" to where none of your crucial plugins work. Always good to be able to downdate. Hey, I made up a new word. >_<

Woo hoo! Thanks for posting the link and directions for finding the DL for FF20. I followed your instructions and I can now double click to minimize.  :-)

MacCookPro, you have my undying gratitude!  :-D

I'm glad I could help. :)

Don't forget to go into FF prefs ->advanced->update and change auto update to check or never. I leave mine on "check" and every few versions, I try it to see if the un-nerfed it.

I know it's way overdue, but... Thanks for the help MCP! I hadn't actually used it, just stuck with minimising by clicking the little button.

An update on the situation. I'm able to minimise the window normally now. Think the latest update to my macbook solved the issue.

Cheers all who helped. :D
