Adobe flash player keeps crashing
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the current (as of 6/22/13) flash plugin for Firefox. I also have turned off hardware acceleration but my flash player keeps crashing on every youtube video I try.

Also Firefox just stopped responding when I allowed the troubleshooter, but it did give information after restoring my previous session.

Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

This not fix my problem. All youtube videos don't load and just stay as a black or white screen.
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
- disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
Disabling the protected mode seemed to fix it. I already did the hardware acceleration with no avail.
Disabling protections just seems like a bad move but what can you do when it doesn't work as intended.
Mozilla have become so arrogant that they choose to ignore this ongoing issue, and, as always pass the buck. Flash is simply NOT compatible with Freezefox.
I just noticed this problem on 2 computers. System Restore fixed it up initially on both. HINT: if software isn't working for you, and if it's recent, it's probably something you've done or changed. GO BACK!!! On one computer I painstakingly reloaded everything since the restore point; right up to Java runtime 64-bit, and Nightly (Firefox 64-bit). Then the problem recurred. Backstepped to standard Firefox (32-bit) and no problems. On the other, I thought I was fine - the only thing I missed out on was a Windows update - definitions for Windows Defender. As I use McAfee and Malwarebytes, figured I didn't need this. Then another daily update appeared from Nightly and Flash Player stopped again. So back to Firefox on this machine as well - no problems. The last couple of updates for Nightly seem to have issues.

I've also had this issue for months and months. Flashplayer plugin crashes hundreds (yes, hundreds) of times a day. I am not looking at videos, mostly facebook and cloud business software. Keeping java, flash and firefox up to date seems to make no difference. Rebooting makes no difference. Shutting down FF and restarting helps for a bit, then the crashes start all over again. All plugins are up to date. I can't deactivate flash because my cloud business software requires it. This is very frustrating.
If FlashPlayer is vital to you consider using Google Chrome instead of Firefox for business use. Google Chrome has an integrated FlashPlayer.
If you wish to solve your own problem on Firefox it is probably best to start a new thread.

Read the links on protected mode {applicable to Windows >XP)
and on hardware acceleration.
Please remember Flash Player is third party, proprietry software.
- Also include crash IDs from the flash hangs or crashes
- and remember you can also try FlashPlayers own support forum for advice and solutions

Alright i got this problem too and i manage to make it work again by doing this:(Please Make sure you have a realplayer)
1:go to firefox menu->options->options->applications
2: you notice there are alot of audio and video related stuffs (when i opened mine all was opening with VLC(VIDEOLAN PLAYER))
3:what i did was change all possible audio and video related stuffs: at the action section try setting them to realplayer(default)
4:restart firefox
5:i dont know why this fix my problem but i wish it could fix yours too xD :)all audio and video runs good already
I Got a Solution for this Problem if your use the addon Adblock Plus. Open up the video you want to watch. Dont Start it yet. Hover you mouse over the video box so a small tab appears that says "block..." on it. click that. That open up a window for setting up a new rule for Ad Block Plus. Click on Exception Rule and click Ok. Your video should work now. You might have set up this rule for every site you watch videos on but it keep Adobe Flash from crashing all the time.

This thread may be drifting on to different topics besides Flash crashing, but use of Flash is widespread, and probably so are the reasons for the crashes.
For anyone looking for a solution other than using Google Chrome see my post above. I will amend that to include a special direct quick link to easily start a new thread (Only use that link from this thread please).

My adobe flash player keeps crashing which is forcing me to use Internet Explorer. I do NOT want to use google chrome as google is already intrusive enough as it is.
Is there any way you guys can fix this?
My flash player was working fine until firefox told me that my version of flash player was "outdated" this is why I dislike upgrading to newer version
Freezefox supporters passing the buck, again, by blaming third party programs. Not everybody has Realplayer.
Note that there are NO responses from Mozilla Freezefox, since they simply do not wish to be helpful. The only people responding are most likely those who create plugins or add-ons for Freezefox. Without these, Firefox would be finished as a competitive browser, therefore both Mozilla and third party additions have much to gain from one another and screw the customers. Why do you think that Mozilla avoid being contacted directly? You won't find Mozilla contact details anywhere.

It is not unusual for free software to provide support on a user forum rather than have direct contacts for 1 to 1 support.
Real Player and Flash Player have or have had known issues with Firefox and when both are installed on Firefox. Both Flash Player and RealPlayer are proprietory software with their own support fora.
I've been having the same problem with FP crashing FF. I just updated to FF24 and reluctantly upgraded to FP 11.8.800.168. Well everything worked fine until I turned off the computer and restarted it and wouldn't you know FF crashed again, and again, and it was being caused by FP. When I turn off FP-no crashes not a surprise! This is really getting old. I've done all the fixes, as suggested, with the exception of turning off the protected mode. I can't and won't do it. There really needs to be some collaboration between FF and Adobe to resolve this problem. For what ever reason, FP 11.3.300.268 works, with no problem, except I get that very annoying FF message about using an outdated plugin. You're really forcing me to use Chrome.

Sorry, if you are yet another person having problems with Flash Player causing Firefox crashes.
If the Flash Player protected mode is the problem, and that is likely, if you have tried all the other fixes, then you may need to disable protected mode if you wish to use Flash Player with your Firefox.
Have you looked at your install of FP 11.3.300.268 although protected mode was introduced with FP11.3 maybe your current working install does not use protected mode.
- Have you checked ?
(IIRC some install procedures turned protected mode on or off and so you may in fact have it turned off). Using old versions of FlashPayer is I suspect likely to be way less secure than using a current version with protected mode off.
Note
- There is no FlashPlayer protected mode in Windows prior to Vista, or in other OS s.
- Protected mode is a feature Flash Player introduced.
- Adobe's own advice is if necessary to turn off ProtectedMode.
Why not temporarily turn that off as a test and then file a bug with Adobe about FlashPlayer causing Firefox to Crash. At least you then know if that is the cause or whether there is still something else to troubleshoot.
If you wish to get help with
- crashes
- bug filing
- disabling or checking the status of AdobeFlash Player's protected mode
- other software interfering with Flash Player

after 12 months of hell with mozilla and adobe crashing and freezing ive finally done and solved the nightmare issue..
remove adobe from your pc.. and it should be removed from mozilla add ons.. then go to adobe and download it but not for mozilla.. i download the windows 7 version for other browsers not mozilla.
i then opened up mozilla and adobe is now working brilliantly.. my browser is so much faster now..
seems that most downloads will give you option of operating system and browswer.. do not click on mozilla. click all other borwsers and hey presto problem solved once you re install it.
why mozilla try to include it self as a compatable provider i just know. it s frankly a disgrace and if they showed any deceny they would remove the issue from their platform. instead they ruin peoples browsing experiance.
i do not recc any of mozilla plugins.. they dont work..
