Chosen solution

Usually links in other applications* will open web pages in your default web browser. To have Firefox make itself your default web browser -- if it doesn't ask you when you start it up -- you can follow the steps in this article: Make Firefox your default browser.

Does Windows comply or resist the change?

* Just to clarify: applications other than a browser, which handles links on its own.
