Why I can't play vimeo clips with Firefox 29 while I can play them with other browsers?
I just installed firefox 29.0.1 and when I click play in a vimeo clip it it doesn't start. It happens with both embedded and from the vimeo site. I can see them with internet explorer 11.

That is good news. One last thing. Do this once in a while.
Open the Add-ons Manager. Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;
Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences
Then Add-ons.
Hot key; <Control> (Mac: <Command>) <Shift> A)
On the left side of the page, select Plugins. At the top right is a link to check your plugins.

Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.
Removing cookies and clearing cache did not worked for me. Starting Firefox in Safe Mode actually worked and I was able to see vimeo clips. Finally I upgraded adobe and java add ons and now it works in normal mode also. Thanks!!

Spoken with Vimeo staff. Firefox needs adobe flashplayer to be installed in order to view Vimeo videos. You can do so here: get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ I have suggested instead of the Ouch's and Ooohh's to show a message like "install the adobe flashplayer to view this video".
Flash is already installed but VIMEO is not giving Firefox the opportunity to override FLASHBLOCK .. Just about everything else requiring FLASH -- Firefox provides an icon -- clicking which -- overrides FLASHBLOCK.
Hi, same problem, but on Mac Mavericks, and Firefox 34.
Safari and Chrome are OK (can play videos), but Firefox simply keeps getting the "This video can’t be played with your current setup" error from Vimeo.
I have added the VLC Web Plugin that was recommended on another site, and Firefox 34 has added the OpenH254 plugin which some said would fix this issue/fault.
The fix that appears to have 'universally' worked is to reinstall FLASH PLAYER, which I ditched ages ago, and would prefer NOT to reinstall on my system given its numerous security holes.
Would be grateful for any advice on fix, as this is really annoying having to continually go to Safari or Chrome to watch only VIMEO links ...
Thanks
install the Adobe flashplayer.
I've had the same problem. After contact with the support dept. of Vimeo I've suggested for Vimeo, instead of the playful "ouch..." the Vimeo video shows when a video is embedded but not being able to be played by the visitor, to add something like "please install the Adobe flashplayer".
Firefox is not (anymore) the browser you should use since this problem is caused by Firefox.
So, Mozilla guys: Fix it!
Modified
The problem is clearly caused by the VIMEO+Firefox interface. I have FLASHBLOCK so anything wrapped in flash can only be "played" by clicking the <f> icon that appears in place of the Flash Ap. For some reason VIMEO+Firefox do not supply that icon.
Youtube videos, wrapped in flash, I have no problem with.
