In prior Thunderbird versions (W7), the message header displayed the message subject and the sender name..could toggle to display receipents and icons. I installed V24 on a new W8 machine and cannot trim down the header.

Chosen solution

View menu (alt+V) > headers > normal.

Or your old machine had this add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/compactheader/

Thank you, Matt. Our granddaughter shined up our laptops a couple of years ago and had applied the "add-on" you referenced. When I read your note, I remembered what she had done. I appreciate your help. Bob
