I cannot send emails through thunderbird. Here are the various error messages:

An error occurred sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE STARTTLS AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN] Dovecot ready..

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: ([192.168.254.8]) [98.19.20.239]:57558 is currently not permitted to relay through this server.. Please check the message recipient katiesunbird@gmail.com and try again.

cant sent says "unable to veryify smtp server mail.starrynight.com is unknown. smtp server may need to be reconfigured"

You're trying to send a message to an IMAP server. The trouble with this is, IMAP is for receiving messages.
