Today I updated my Java to watch some videos in Firefox (which is the most recent version), but for some reason, now when I go to open a new tab, a stupid search engine site is the default page it opens to. I've tried the about:config method to change the browser.newtab.url name to about:blank, but whenever I click OK, Firefox doesn't save the changes and the search site remains the default. I've also tried putting in my homepage URL and about:startpage and nothing is working. I have also toggled with the browser.newtabpage.enabled to both true and false, with no luck.

Any other way to change this? Please Help!

Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
