I want firefox to maximize a tab with a certain page, instead of loading a new tab, if a dektop shortcut pointing to that certain page is opened. Is this possible?

This is a nifty answer for an option that is built into Windows 7, although it is not for a tab but from a shortcut and a customized homepage : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../913091#answer-299544

However you may be able to set the homepage with two tabs from this menu: Firefox Menu > Options > General
