Downloading email causes thunderbird to stall
Hi, since adding my gmail account to Thunderbird on fedora20 using IMAP, which has a few hundred thousand messages in numerous folders amounting to approximately 3GB, Thunderbird occassionally stalls, apparently while downloading the mail.
The status in the lower-left occasionally displays "downloading message N of NNN", but not always. This could be happening at any time - composing a new message, or even while Thunderbird is completely idle.
I have about four accounts configured with Thunderbird, and this gmail one is by far the largest.
What other information can I provide to troubleshoot this?
Thanks, Alex

re: The gmail imap account: Do you see the 'All Mail' folder?
This is gmails Archive folder which keeps a copy of all your emails. So this folder can get huge. If you can see this folder, it is doubling the size of your mail account.
Suggest that you unsubscribe from seeing this folder and remove the saved files from your Profile. See info at this link under sub heading 'All Mail'

It looks like the issue was indeed with the "All Mail" folder. After unsubscribing from that folder, it appears to be better.
