I play music from our national classical music station by live stream. A few days ago I installed the VLC media player and now, when I click on the "listen live" link, the VLC player opens. I installed VLC for video use and would prefer to use Windows Media Player for music.

You would have to check that in the VLC settings to see what file types the program will handle. In case of VLC this can be quite a few file extensions. Note that a new program usually prompts you if you want that them to handle specific file extension when you install and first run that program, so make sure not to miss such settings.
