How to alphabetise names in the contacts list of Thunderbird's Address Book [not Mac dock Address], lists first followed by contact names in alphabetical order?

List of contact folders, individual names and their email addresses in Thunderbird's Address Book are erratic. Main Categories at left are: Personal Address Book, Mac OS Address Book, and Collected Addresses. Within each of these, the titles of the folders are OK alphabetised. But, when I select say Collected Addresses, or any folder under Collected Addresses, the names and their emails are not alphabetised. I tried looking in Properties, but there was nothing there on this matter. I tried grab and drop, but that did not work either. So, how do I adjust the folders contents so that they are alphabetical? Thank you. November 2014

The address books sort just like any other window in Thunderbird. You click on the header at the top of the column that you want to sort by. Click the same header a second time to reverse the sort.

On the menu bar under the View menu you can select to show the name ans first, last or last, first.
