Hey guys, Can I still sync/add devices using FireFox 30 (which iCHOOSE to use...) and, if so, how/where can I do so (because clicking both the 'Sync Now' FireFox menu sub-heading and the 'sync icon' browser toolbar icon do NOTHING [other than cause the toolbar sync icon to annoyingly rotate for a split-second before doing nothing else...])?!

wow - My computer clock is fine so I was personally puzzled by the sudden 2033 log dates too but yeah, I'll just save on time (speaking of which thanks for yours) and export my bookmarks to Safari so that iCan access them via my iPhones - Bye mozilla. @P_C_T

Are you logged in at accounts.firefox.com?

  • How do I turn on sync logs:
  1. Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
  2. Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
  3. Logs and error messages will be located here

Please also use pastebin.mozilla.org for sharring any errors that relate to this issue.

Thank you.

Er, so exactly WHERE do I access "about:config" / "services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess" / "services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks" / "about:sync-log"?!! Thanks, P.

I did all that you said but there was no change so yeah, how/where do I access+activate the "... Recovery Key..." referred to in the aforementioned error message? Thanks, P

Awesome, sorry for the delay in help. The about:config is a url you can enter in the browser to get the "under the hood" entries that control Firefox. Most of which are also associated with a feature in the UI, some not. But you figured it out how to find the errors, awesome.

You mentioned an error that included Recovery Key. This just means that the key has expired if you are on the newer version of sync (you will see 1.5 in the sync url listed in the error log) If one of the devices is on the old version of sync, you will see an option to pair a device in the Options > Sync menu.

In the past this error has been resolved by removing the account from the profile from the Options menu, and logging back in.

I am using the old (FireFox 30 [preferred bookmarker]) version of Sync, which I want to continue using so that I can access my bookmarks, but as the attached image shows there is no option to add a device so please tell me if there is a workaround I can use to add devices through this version of Sync. If not, will I be able to access my bookmarks if I create a 'New' account for the latest Sync?

Anyway, where/how do I change my CollectionKey/Cryptokey from (e.g. 'e2491df3111633832ebccc8f48bd36e5452978544e421a9943c534b839436412' to the correct one in FireFox 30's Sync? Nonetheless I tried removing my Sync account from the profile via the Options menu and then logging back in (after changing the about:config settings as advised) but there has been no improvement so yeah, please advise/ Thanks.

I see that the last two entries show a 2033 year in the date.

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

You can't connect to an old style Sync account that uses a Sync (recovery) key. You would have to temporarily install a Firefox 28 version to retrieve that sync data and then update to the current release.
