Out of the blue Firefox on my laptop will present a dial-in screen for an internet connection. this stops everything until I recognize the window is there and click on CANCEL. Then everything works as it should. Don't have this problem with IE or any other app.

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select Network. Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. Check the settings.
