Quiet and useless limit of 5000 bookmarks to sync in Android?

1. Why this limit is so "quiet"? One day my "Desktop bookmarks" folder just has been disapeared in all my Android devices. Without any warning or error message. Moreover also "Mobile bookmarks" are not syncing between Android devices. 2. Why this limit is not clearly described in any documentation about the "Sync" service? For me this is a serious limitation of usability of this service (and Firefox on Android at all). 3. The synchronization betweend desktop Windows devices is still working correctly, so I think that this limit is specific for the Android. Do you plan to remove this limit on this platform? 4. If this is system limit do you plan to use sharding or something to Avoid this?

sERO, its a public limit, but perhaps it needs to be added to the knowledge base. I would be happy to investigate the limit and started to tag the threads mentioning the limit with "bookmark limit".

Currently I do not know of any plans to change this limit.

I think that this limitation is a serious problem for any PowerUser.

I got a lot of bookmarks - for my work, customers, hobbys. If I cannot synchronize them with my tablet and smartphones the Firefox on Android is completly unusable for me. Chrome don't have such problems, but I love my privacy and I don't like Chrome (yet ;).

"We have 5000 bookmarks limit and If you want to use Firefox on Android you had to delete you favorite sites" doesn't sound good.

I think Mozilla should also warn Windows and Linux: "you willl be a little suprised if you plan >>just<< use Firefox on Android". ;)

Hi,

The problem still exists.

No changes in documentation, no warnings, no error messages, but bookmarks syncing is NOT working. Any plan to correct this in the future?

  • How do I turn on sync logs:
  1. Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
  2. Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
  3. Logs and error messages will be located here

Please also use pastebin.mozilla.org for sharring any errors that relate to this issue.

Thank you.
