Print preview not working

Hello Guys,

I have a problem with Firefox and i can't seem to fix it, i even tried removing all addons and disabling my antivirus.

I went to this microsoft link https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-and-print-mailing-labels-for-an-address-list-in-Excel-d9ae0b60-9fd0-4a90-9da9-0ec3a4b011b2

And I tried printing but it only shows 3 pages and they are not correct, I tried print preview and have the same problem only 3 broken pages show up, yet it is a large page so not sure why it is happening.

I tried print to pdf using nitro and soda pdf and they have the same issue, its like firfox is preventing the page to be properly opened and printed. It happens on some other sites as well but its the above page i really need.

I uploaded a pdf file of what the page shows up as if i try to print, print preview and print to pdf, It always looks the same which is incorrect. Here is the link to the pdf file so you can see the issue, you help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Ok update on this problem, I created a new firefox profile and the new profile has same problem it does not print all pages, show all pages in print preview and does not allow print to pdf to capture all pages.

Thanks in advance Fred

You're leaving out some information, I think.

Why can't you print those files thru Excel, rather than Firefox? Or view and Print those files thru Adobe Reader?

Windows thinks that file you posted to OneDrive is an "Adobe PDF" file, but knowing the way that Microsoft does things, I'm willing to bet that Excel isn't generating a PDF file that is fully compatible with Adobe PDF standards and even Adobe Reader isn't going to display and print the Excel generated files 100% as they were created.

Hello the-edmeister,

First thanks for the quick reply to my post, i appreciate it.

I am confused by the excel comment.

i am trying to print the webpage to a pdf or to my printer directly, but no matter which way i try in firefox I still only get 3 pages. The 3 pages are what is in the pdf file or printer pages look like but they dont match the site at all. Yet the link to the website should have 6 or more pages, they just dont show up as the pdf file i posted shows.

I dont use adobe reader at all, I have paid version of Nitro Pro 9 and Soda PDF. When in firefox and I go to the website and i choose print or print preview it only shows those 3 screwed up pages as the pdf file shows.

i dont know what excel has to do with my issue, I am new to windows 8.1 and microsoft office. But trying to print the webpage fails in firefox and only gives those 3 messed up pages.

Thanks in advance Fred

Hey,

Well here is another update.

I tried firefox in safe mode now as well as a new profile again, but still have same problem. It simply won't print correctly either to printer, print to PDF (using nitro & soda PDF) or even in print preview. Most of site page simply will not show when trying the above items.

I have also tried in Google Chrome and it works there so I at least have what I need, but it does not fix the issue with firefox.

Edit: I um updating this post with another link to a video showing some of the issues currently. The link to youtube is http://youtu.be/KQVEjbv2i0o

Any other suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Fred

OK, now I understand what's going on after seeing that video.

Printing only the first of multiple pages and ending the preview when a DIV extends beyond the first page to be printed. That is caused by two long standing Bugs in Firefox printing core, one of which has been around for at least a dozen years.

Best I can suggest is to print Microsoft support pages thru Internet Explorer, rather than even try doing it thru Firefox. At this point in time, the only way Bugs like that are ever going to be fixed is if Mozilla decided to completely replace the printer code "by starting with a clean sheet of paper" and dump the old Netscape code that no one with Mozilla seems to understand.

Hello the-edmeister,

Thanks for getting back to me and the help.

Its to bad mozilla won't fix the issue as to me it seems a simple choice to make the changes. I have used Mozilla since I had to pay for it long ago and many computers ago, but all the small issues start being bigger with the more small ones added.

Anyways thanks again for the help and information. Have a great day Fred

Netscape begat Mozilla, but Mozilla branded software has always been free - where Netscape did 'sell' Netscape Navigator before Mozilla was spun off as an open source project and made a non-profit organization.

Every time I see an issue like this posted here, I stop and think that if I had a crystal ball when I first started using Firefox - I would probably have gone with Opera when I wanted something [anything] other than Internet Explorer back in 2002, and wish I had just gone ahead and paid for the ad-free version of Opera. I am confident that the amount of ink / toner and paper I wasted over the last 12 years using Firefox, was easily many multiples of what I would have paid for the Opera ad-free version back in 2002. But then again, because of these print-Bugs I bet that I have printed far fewer pages than I would have if the printing in Firefox was a lot better (or I was using Opera); making Firefox a ecology-friendly browser by discouraging users from printing anything or making user think "do I really need to print this" before printing something.

I find 1866 Bugs when I search Bugzilla for "print" Some of those Bugs go back to before Mozilla even existed date wise, I think - like back when Netscape still owned the code.
