Keep getting in particular one website overwriting my desired homepage with their address especially on my mini netbook computer not so much my desktop. Would like to create, similar to what IE has, a list of restricted sites never to be accessed. Currently using Firefox 36.?.? release.

It is not a feature of Firefox, although there may be addons available to do that sort of thing, and I can think of a rather inconvenient method of doing that.

More important is that

  1. You probably have malware or at least adware on your computer already.
  2. And if you block a specific site you will just fall prey again to some other site.

Look for and uninstall any obvious unwanted Firefox addons, using the add-ons manager, and unwanted Window programs using the Windows Control Panel. Then run scans with multiple up to date tools.

Post back to say how you get on including what you tried, and what was found.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.
