Hey guys,

Firefox recently upgraded over to version 36.0.1 which was fine! Until I switched over to private browsing (PB).

Normally opening a new tab for me in PB would mean a page with all my pinned pages/bookmarks included; just as with normal browsing. However, now I am getting a "You're browsing privately" page which is most unhelpful. Is there anyway to switch back to getting my pinned pages? Or even a blank page? Something more helpful/less annoying.

I've been playing around with the about:config settings this morning with no luck :(

Cheers

You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.

Hey

Thank you for your response. However, that's not what I am after. I am trying to replace the "You're browsing privately" page with either a blank page of my pinned pages which would normally show up on opening a new tab in normal browsing.

That is not possible. If you open a new New Private Window then you will always get the about:privatebrowsing page. Pinned tabs are tied to a window, so any new windows that you open have their own set of pinned tabs and this list is empty when the window is opened.

It was the case though before the update. In PB, a new tab would load about:newtab, I remember I needed to add a # at the end of it though to become about:newtab# but in essence about:privatebrowsing was set to load about:newtab#

I can't seem to find the steps I followed to do it again but I really want it back.

Yes, I can see that there is a difference between Firefox 36 and 35 how the new tab page works. You could try to create a bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar set to about:newtab and middle-click this bookmark to open the page in a new tab.
