Firefox was working fine and all of a sudden, it crashes when I try to start it up. reinstalled it a couple of times but doesn't help. This is the error message that is produced "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

First you need to check your Windows Installation for viruses, and try running Firefox in safe mode ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode )

Also try disabling all addons.
