Every program in Windows has a Menu bar, and Nightly's Menu bar suddenly has changed to requiring me to double-click a tab on it in order to open any of the following:

File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help

I tried resetting Nightly but this did not fix the problem. How can I fix this?

Yes, noticed the next day that this bug got patched when Nightly updated. Marking as fixed, thanks to all who replied!  :-)

I've checked the current Nightly on Linux and with the menu bar hidden I get the opposite and do not have to click any menu items when the menu bar is hidden and I hold the Alt key to open the menu bar, i.e. the menus open automatically when I hover each of them. With the menu bar visible I only need to click once to open the menu.

Is the menu bar visible all the time for you or set to auto hide (View > Toolbars)? Is there a difference between the two settings?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Well I've already tried resetting Nightly, which I stated in my original post, so I don't know why I'd try that again. As far as addons are concerned, Nightly listed one plugin that appears to be on it's vulnerable list, the Java Deployment Toolkit, and no others were flagging, so I don't think starting in safe mode would actually do anything useful.

What I would like to know, however, is whether there exists some kind of keyconfig or user input settings file that I can examine, as Nightly is the only program behaving in this manner, and another program that's similar to Nightly, Thunderbird, an email program I have on my computer, has menus that are similar but behave normally.
