Hi everyone,

So since I updated to Firefox 36 now I'm having an issue with the Flash player, the videos are now flashing all the time its absolutely not watchable, even when the video is not playing, the whole flash player is flashing, the image comes and goes. Check the attached gif to have a better idea of what is happening. http://postimg.org/image/64bqap01x/

However when I toggle fullscreen then everything is fine, the image stays

I have the latest Firefox update 36.0.4 and the latest Flash plugin 17.0.0.134, before the updtae to FF 36 everything was fine. I am on windows vista.

Any clues on where this issue comes from?

Thanks

Update to the current Firefox 36.4

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Please remove the older program. It might be better to remove both, then get the current full installer.

Have you upgraded your Firefox?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

I am currently on the latest firefox (see pic)

I uninstalled Veetle but with no results however I restarted FF in safemode and now the flashplayer is working fine so there is something wrong with one of my plugins or addon that has a conflict with Flash player but which one that is a good question, I will try to disable some of them and see what happens

Disable all of them, then restart Firefox. Make sure the problem is gone. After, take a few and re-enable them. Is the problem back? Continue.

Okay here we go again:

  • 1st I disabled manually all the extensions and restarted firefox => no results
  • then I enabled back all the extensions thought it wasnt coming from them and disabled manually all the plugins (execpt the kaspersky ones that cant be disabled) => no results as well
  • so I disabled manually all the extensions and the all plugins at the same time => still no results :o

now i dont see what i can do more, everything was disabled and I was still having the issue, only when firefox was in safe mode it was working fine. Can it comes from something else than the plugins or extensions?

Open the options on Kaspersky, and tell it to leave the browsers alone. Then reboot.

I disabled the plugins in Kaspersky options then I suspended the protection and exited kapsersky from taskbar and I am still facing the issue

what is disabled in safe mode only the extensions and plugins or something else as well?

Plugins are not affected by Safe Mode.

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons#extensions)
  • default theme is used (no lightweight theme (Persona))
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder in profile folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used
  • JavaScript JIT compilers are disabled
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options/Preferences > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected
