I want to get rid of a couple of unused email accounts. I have tried editing the profile and that wasn't at all successful. Why is the 'remove account' greyed out for some accounts? How can it be activated?

You can't remove the default account (or Local Folders), so set another account as Default, with Account Actions, and then remove the other account.
