Both firefox versions 37.0.1 and 37.0.2 showing runtime issues with the plug-ins container. Had to uninstall and reinstall version 36.0.4. This is far better, but not perfect. Also Flash and Java have been causing problems with any Firefox since upgrading to Windows 7 in December 2014.

Will you be fixing these issues in a upgrade/patch of firefox v37.x.x?

What kind of messages are you getting about plugin-container.exe -- do you get a crash dialog from Windows?

If you are comparing Windows 7 to Windows XP, there is a feature of Flash that only works on Windows Vista and higher, which is the protected mode. That has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. There is a hidden setting for disabling it:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(B) In the search box above the list, type or paste flash and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode preference to switch its value from false to true.

This might not take effect until all Flash has been unloaded for a few minutes, or you close Firefox.

To learn more about the intended benefits of protected mode, see: http://blogs.adobe.com/security/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html

Hi

Thanks for you quick reply.

Followed your suggestions for fixing the Flash issue and now it works. Thanks for that, if you have the knack its easy! I hope it'll work for Seamonkey - I can reinstall it.

Regarding the plug-in container problem:

Windows brings up 2 error dialogues, 1 for Firefox not working and the same for Plug-in Container.

Firefox also opens a dialogue, in which I tick the 'Send Report' box and close the application.

I have found a Windows Log of this event, but can not attach a text copy on here or email it to you.

It's okay about not being able to attach the Windows data, as I don't know how to read it anyway...

But for the Mozilla Crash Reporter reports, if you share the crash report IDs with us, we can review those details. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.

I suppose if they are all from before the Flash fix, you might wait to see whether you get any new ones, as the details probably will change.

Went to 'Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes' article and opened 'Submitted Crash Reports'. The last 3 IDs are:

f7b427f1-d525-49bb-93ae-b4f37dd773dc 11/05/2015 03:40 a5edbd3b-4416-4487-a42f-0e42beefcbba 11/05/2015 03:40 3524e19f-9a2d-4bdc-9d0a-6bffa8f4161c 11/05/2015 03:40

none of which contains any data. They are all after the reinstallation of Firefox 36 and the fix of the Flash issue.

Since carrying out these 2, I have not had a plugin container problem - even off Ebay site, which usually causes problems. I shall send any IDs if problems reoccur.

Thanks a lot for you help in this, I'll cross my function keys and hope.
