suddenly thunderbird is displaying the next msg when i delete a msg how do I diable this

Suddenly when I delete a message Thunderbird displays the next message. It use to take me back to the listing of emails which is what I want. Where is the setting that will disable displaying the next message?

How do you read messages?

In the pane beneath the list of messages? In their own window? In a tab?

Is this selected?

'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'Reading & Display' tab select : 'Close message window/tab on move or delete' click on OK
