Hello!

I updated my Firefox and now I can't pull anything to my bookmark toolbar. I'm talking about just dragging a tab to the toolbar to quickly save it. I can still create things manually and delete stuff... so its not locked or frozen.

I can't swear that it was the update that did it but that's the only timing I noticed. I started it in safe mode however the bookmark toolbar doesn't show so I can't test it.

Thanks! Nancy

UPDATE: I found I could move icons within folders that I had placed on my bookmark bar. Once I did that something "broke" free and it start letting me move anything. Weird but at least it's fixed!

It's fixed but I still can't drag anything to the END of the toolbar. I have to always drag things between other things. Not a big deal really.

Are there any other elements on the Bookmarks Toolbar apart from the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" that represent the bookmarks if you check this in customize mode?

more options

No there's nothing else on that bar besides bookmarks. As you can see I tend to customize the heck out of firefox. :-P Everything is working fine other than I can't pull stuff to the end of that toolbar. Odd little quirk. Not a big deal just weird.

You should see the Bookmarks Toolbar and the bookmarks on it in Safe Mode.

You can try to reset the browser.uiCustomization.state pref on the about:config page or click "Restore Defaults" in the Customize palette and possibly delete the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

And now it won't let me drag icons to it again... I've got something odd going on for sure. I'll follow the instructions you posted... appreciate it!

To open the Bookmarks Manager, press the Alt or F10 key bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac:<Command>) <Shift> B.

On the left side is the bookmarks "tree." Select Bookmarks Toolbar. Are you able to move things in the bookmarks window?

more options

Yep I can move things in there... of course right now its letting me add to the toolbar. Some sort of intermittent glitch. But I can pull things to the end in the manager too... whereas it will never let me add things to the end of my bookmark toolbar when dragging them from the browser window.

After moving things in the bookmarks window, it the bookmarks toolbar updated?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

more options

Yep. If I move them in the bookmark manager window they also move on the toolbar itself.
