I exported all of my bookmarks to HTML, as well as clicked the back-up button, so I could temporarily delete some of them. Now when I click on almost every restore point going back a month, I get the error message, "unable to process backup file," or "Unsupported file type." To make matters worse, when I attempt to import bookmarks from HTML, I don't get all of the bookmarks I backed up, just a folder or two that has lost almost all of the bookmarks.

I've tried to re-read other threads to find an answer, and one solution that came up was to checked for, or edit "places.sqlite-journal." But my Firefox 38.0.5 has no such folder. I don't see, "places.sqlite-journal" and nothing comes up when I try to search for it.

All of my work is in great jeopardy. I realize now that I should have just exported all of the bookmarks to HTML, then open them up in a sock Browser, which I could have selectively deleted. I was over confident in the simple click and save of Firefox,

Do the JSON backups have a .json file extension or for a compressed backup .jsonlz4?

An HTML backup needs to have a .html file extension.
