Thunderbird quits responding and takes too long to download or open e-mail

Have been using Thunderbird on this computer with no problems, not it takes 3 to 4 minutes to download e-mail with no attachments. Then when I try to open e-mail it may take 2 or 3 minutes to open (Usually get a " not responding" error then finally opens Windows 7 Pro. I have disabled all extensions and plug ins. Still takes forever. Thunderbird on other 2 Windows 7 Pro computers work wonderfully. Just can't figure out why this one doesn't

I have McAfee Live Safe, but I have it on other Win 7 Pro computer that does not have the problem

after second try of turning off e-mail attachments in McAfee it seems to have helped. Thanks
