The messages all state: This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed. It then displays my message that didn't go through. Sometimes they get through 12-30 hours later, sometimes never. This just began about 4 days ago and is most annoying, as there is often substantial delay before the notice of non-delivery comes through. OS is still XP ... has never had a problem before.

That just means the system is very busy. Don't worry unless you get a message that the mail can not be sent.

Hello there,

This can be a quite common phenomenon in Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc. Mail hijacking by spammers is somewhat common. Given time, it may just go away but if not, you may need to discontinue use of that address.

It is nothing on the Firefox itself that is the problem it is the vulnerability of the mail servers to such things.

Hope this helps!

I really don't think it is a spammer-related issue. This just began several days ago, only affects a small percentage of out-going email, and in some cases the message is delivered following the delay. I only use a secure email server and I have had no reports of my contact list being hijacked. But thank you very much for your reply, Machine Master.
