All of a sudden No vids will play..I get Warning that version is unsecure and I need to update...All update options are for Windows 7, 8, and others, but no option for Flash for XP system...Seems I can Bypass by "allowing" it...

The two currently up-to-date versions are:

  • 18.0.0.194
  • 13.0.0.296

If you can't install 18.x, then you would need to use Adobe's uninstaller to remove 17.x. Otherwise, the installer for 13.x will always say you have the higher version already.

There's a link to the uninstaller in our support article here: Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems.

Try using the Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.296 from here. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - then scroll down about 2/3 of that page

More suitable for Firefox on WinXP than the later versions. Support for Windows XP ended on April 8, 2014, so you're not going to see WinXP listed for newer versions of Flash.

I scrolled down..found the "Extended Support Release"...I see options for Internet Explorer Browser and Plug in..then it goes to Mac..I typically only use Firefox..Do I download the "EXE" for "Plug-In? I never use Explorer.??

Yes, select the Windows > Plugin-based browsers > EXE Installer hyperlink.

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins or scanning for malware then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.

  • Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
  • Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.

Note that Firefox 39.0 will be released one of the next few days as testing a fix of a startup crash seems to have been completed.

OK..I went to my documents...downloads folder...both exe installers I downloaded aere there...I clicked on one..clicked RUN....got window that says Error...the version I am trying to install is not most current...visit "player downloads center" link to get latest, most secure version....only option I had was "quit". Should I go to this link it gave me and is there some version there that will work with windows XP and Firefox?

Don't know how I did it, but somehow I installed version 18.0.0.194 and it works. ;-) Thanks
